This Umayyad dirham was struck during the reign of Caliph Al-Walid ibn 'Abd al-Malik (86-96 AH / 705-715 AD)
This coin was issued in year 93 AH (710-711 AD) in the city of Wasit founded 11 years ago by General Al-Hajjaj ibn Yusuf.
Its name means "middle" because it was built halfway between Baghdad and Al-Basra for the control of the troubles in Iraq.
This date marks the capture of Samarkand as well as the beginning of the invasion of the Sindh region.
